    MOU between PAHO Foundation and MedShare

    PAHO Foundation and MedShare Join Forces in Bringing Better Health to Latin America and the Caribbean

    Atlanta, GA (October 20, 2017) – PAHO Foundation (the Foundation) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MedShare, a 501(c)3 humanitarian aid organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for people, communities, and the planet through the delivery of medical supplies and equipment. The MoU formalizes their partnership geared toward improving health outcomes in the Americas, with a focus on the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region.

    Montreal, Canada (October 2-3, 2017) – PAHO Foundation leadership recently attended the 2017 Sustainable Retail Summit (SRS) in Montreal, Canada. The SRS, hosted by The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), is a yearly gathering of retail, consumer, business, and health experts, aimed at galvanizing coordinated action toward achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other positive actions to solve some of today's biggest industry challenges, ranging from food loss and waste to the eradication of forced labor practices.

    Atlanta, GA (September 22, 2017) – The earthquakes in Mexico and Hurricane Maria's arrival in the Caribbean this month proffer many immediate and long-term implications to the health of individuals across the Americas. As a response to the recent events and to aid efforts safeguarding and advancing health outcomes for the most vulnerable communities impacted, PAHO Foundation is strategically convening partners from the private and public sectors to leverage needed resources to bolster response and supplement community rebuilding.

    As Hurricanes Irma and Jose Threaten Lives in the Caribbean and the United States, PAHO Foundation Readies a Response

    Atlanta, GA (September 11, 2017) – From Cuba to Antigua and Barbuda, Hurricane Irma, one of the most forceful storms ever documented in the Atlantic basin, swept through the Caribbean and part of the United States and left a treacherous trail of destruction in its path, reports the BBC. Hurricane Irma has left thousands homeless and according to recent reports by Caribbean360, has resulted in at least 25 mortalities.

    Innovating Community Building and Engagement: Q&A with PAHO Foundation Board of Trustees Chair, Victoria Jones

    Victoria Jones currently leads PAHO Foundation’s (the Foundation) Board of Trustees as its Chair, serving as an ambassador to actively help the Foundation build and strengthen relationships with prospective partners and supporters. Prior to this post, Ms. Jones held the position of Vice Chair and has been with the Foundation since January 2015.

    Outside of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Ms. Jones directs and manages The Clorox Company’s global interactions with governments and sustainability-driven solutions as its Vice President, Global Corporate Affairs and as the Vice President/Secretary for The Clorox Company Foundation.

    The Consumer Goods Forum's (CGF) 2017 Sustainable Retail Summit, October 2-3 in Montréal, Canada, will feature PAHO Foundation President and CEO, Dr. Jennie Ward-Robinson, as a keynote speaker. Dr. Ward-Robinson will present during the Summit’s Health and Wellness session, which highlights the importance of cross-sectoral partnerships in bridging gaps in the consumer goods industry. This enables consumers to live healthier, more productive lives.

    PAHO Foundation Visits Peru's Ministry of Health

    Atlanta, GA (July 10, 2017) – PAHO Foundation would like to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Peru's Ministry of Health. On June 22, 2017, the Ministry launched its national plan to address cervical cancer in Tumbes, Peru. The launch coincided with the official opening of a new clinic, the training of over 150 community health volunteers, and the christening of new vehicles to assist in specimen collection and ambulance transport. The national plan for cervical cancer is the culmination of a concerted commitment by the Ministry of Health to address women’s cancer -- an effort that began with the creation of a national strategic plan in 2012.
